Experience and Career History:
Catherine is a commercial solicitor. Joining Virtual Law in 2011, she was originally employed as in-house lawyer for EMI working on patent and copyright licensing within the defence and consumer electronics, IT and music industries. Subsequently, she was Senior Legal Advisor for Siemens within the telecoms industry and was instrumental in the enforcement of the company’s rights when its call centre software was infringed in the second hand market. Catherine also spent 5 years in private practice with Bird and Bird.
Catherine specialises in the full array of innovation- and technology-based transactions, including IT, telecoms, data, biotech/pharma, e-payments and e commerce. Particular projects include having worked on a major notification to the European competition authorities on the development of an AIDS vaccine, and various developments in mobile telephony. She has also completed consultancy assignments for Bass Brewers, Thomson Reuters (contracts for financial data to the Banks and city community), and Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal Europe, (real time news content and print media) and the then AIM-listed DataCash plc (contracts with the no frills airlines, betting sites and major retailers online offerings) within the field of e-payments.
