Experience and Career History:
Diederik is a corporate and commercial lawyer with extensive transactional experience. Prior to joining Virtual Law in October 2011, Diederik headed the London-based UK legal practice of global firm Roedl & Partner. Previously, he was a corporate lawyer with Baker & McKenzie working on worldwide transactions from their London and Brussels offices.
With extensive experience on the entrepreneurial business frontline, Diederik is very able to think in parallel with his clients, understanding their needs and concerns, and translating these into a legal framework in the process of the transaction. Working in close collaboration with his clients, he approaches challenges and problems with an efficient and pragmatic outlook, a keen eye for detail, and economisation on time, resources and costs.
Diederik’s transaction list includes acquisitions, sales, and restructurings of companies and business on all continents and across various industries. He has also undertaken more general corporate and commercial work. He has coordinated and managed teams of lawyers in multiple jurisdictions on projects ranging in value from less than a million GBP to multiple billion GBP transactions. His clients include Fortune 500 companies, global holdings, small start-up enterprises and private individuals. Diederik is fluent in five languages and travels extensively in Europe on client matters.
